BEASTIAN unrightfully kicking for AFK and lying

Explain what happened:

 Being as everybody's stats recently reset with MBRP 2.0's launch, many people have been grinding time on the server to do AFK mining, as well as to get skill points. I, along with my friends and many others have been doing this every night. However, today a member of my gang, Playboicartifan2009, was doing exactly that- putting in AFK time to grind skill points. Apparently this was an issue to BEASTIAN, as he felt the need to kick him for being AFK.

 

There are some circumstances in which I can understand why kicking somebody who is AFK would be necessary. For example, if they were on a limited job- however, my friend specifically made sure to be a citizen when going AFK:

I could also understand why an AFK player would be kicked if the server was full, or even close to full. However, this was not the case either:

So we've ruled out 2 possible causes: he was on a slot-based job, and player capacity. I asked him if he's kicking those who are AFK, why not do it to any other players? His only response was to read his kick message. This response clearly helped with nothing.

 

At any given moment, there are plenty of AFK players- all for different reasons. There has never been a history of kicking players who are AFK simply for the sake of being AFK (unless as previously mentioned there was probable cause, such as taking a job, or for taking slots in the playercount.), so why was Playboicartifan2009 kicked? Is this something we can expect to see from now on? And if so, where is the line drawn? Can we AFK mine, or is that kickable? Can we farm skill points while sitting in spawn as a citizen, or is that kickable? There is nothing in the rules mentioning any of the prior.

BEASTIAN eventually got annoyed and upset at his logic being questioned. This is when he became passive aggressive in us asking questions, and started spamming chat with "report it on the forums " any time we spoke to him:

 

 

Playboicartifan2009 reached out to Lucifer for clarification on why he was kicked. BEASTIAN lied to Lucifer, stating the server was full. Earlier in the thread, I provided proof and a timestamp of the playercount at time of the kick.

 

Other players also noticed BEASTIAN selectively kicking players for "being AFK" and were obviously upset by it. Overall, this entire situation was handled extremely poorly by BEASTIAN. I think we all understand that this is a Gmod server, so it shouldn't be held to some distinguishable degree of professionality, but staff are held to a higher standard than average players. Being passive-aggressive and refusing to elaborate on your selective kicking(s) is extremely shady and unprofessional. Unfortunately, this is not the first instance of BEASTIAN acting this way towards MBRP's players- however, this report is specifically for this instance. Lying to other staff about playercount when kicking somebody is also simply wrong, no need to elaborate on that. Kicking players as you feel is not how the server should be ran. There are clearly defined standards for reasons to kick players, and BEASTIAN clearly doesn't care to follow them.

Thank you for your report. I am not here to argue, but to present my side of the story clearly to avoid any misconceptions. First and foremost, your accusations are quite serious. I was not being passive-aggressive in-game. Issues with staff members, including staff reports, should be addressed through the appropriate forums, which you have correctly used. This allows all parties to present their perspectives with conversation logs and allows others to contribute their opinions on the matter. Flooding the in-game chat with multiple messages expressing your anger is neither the time or place for such actions, which is why I responded with "report it on the forums."

After discussing with staff members today, I learned that the server browser displays a different player count than the one shown in-game. Honestly, I was unaware of the small player count displayed in the tab menu. When I messaged Lucifer, I relied on the server browser, which showed 110/110 players, and I refreshed it to confirm the number. However, I later discovered that pressing the tab key in-game revealed a different count. I am unsure which count is accurate, and I will leave it to the other superadmins to determine if I was at fault.

As instructed by the superadmins, when the server reaches full capacity, we are to kick players based on the highest AFK times. You and the two other players I kicked had the highest AFK time at that moment, which was 191 minutes, or over 3 hours. None of those players were Miners, so I am unsure where this assumption comes from. I checked all players in spawn to determine who would be kicked. I only kicked a few players because, as instructed by the superadmins, we are to kick only a few to make room for new players to join.

Regarding handling the situation professionally, it would have been extremely unprofessional to argue with players in chat. The entire server was not upset, only you and your group because I kicked one of your members. I do not answer to you or any other players in admin matters. My duty is to respond to Lucifer, World, and the other management/owners. You claim, without proof, that "this is not the first instance of BEASTIAN acting this way towards MBRP's players." However, I attempt to perform my duties as professionally as possible.

TL;DR- BEASTIAN didn't read the post at all and gave a shitty response excusing why he did what he did.

 

You further prove my point by disregarding my questions in chat as "Flooding in game chat with messages expressing anger." Genuinely confused on how you can mistake your reluctance to answer any questions at all regarding your actions stating it should be "discussed on forums." It was a simple question that could have been dealt with by giving players an explanation and understanding their frustrations- rather than spamming chat yourself with "report it on the forums" every single time we asked you a question... If you don't see how your response to players asking questions about your kicking is problematic, you need to do a bit of socializing outside of Gmod to learn how to act like a normal person.

Not sure in what world anybody uses the legacy Gmod server browser to view a player count when you can quite easily press tab and see it for yourself, as I did in my picture provided. This response seems like a cop out excuse you came up with after the situation happened. Either way, let's assume you were simply ignorant, you kicked somebody because you failed to properly look for an easily searchable number- this doesn't change what happened, it's more of an excuse/explanation as to WHY you did something wrong.

Again, not sure you read the thread. This was an example, I made it very clear when I asked where the rules are drawn. I stated the following "Is this something we can expect to see from now on? Yet again, don't think you read my post. I never said the entire server was upset. I said  "Other players also noticed BEASTIAN selectively kicking players for "being AFK" and were obviously upset by it."

I specifically stated this is not the first time you've acted unprofessionally towards other players. Anybody can log on the server and see how you interact with other players. I do not care enough to report you for how you act because we barely interact, and it doesn't affect me. I made this report specifically because you are kicking people for unjust reasons.

 

 

I thought staff weren't supposed to argue their reports on the forums, but I guess you don't care to read the guidelines set for staff. You further proved my point regarding your unprofessional behaviors throughout your response, but attempted to save face by ending it with "I hope you have a great night! " You purposely made my report seem exaggerated by misquoting me as saying "The entire server was not upset," when I never stated such. -Support I believe if this was such a demanding issue the player that got kicked should be the one making this report. This seems like an extreme attempt to get BEASTIAN a staff strike. Not sure if it is for a different reason of the dislike towards this staff member. This seems like a miss understanding of a player count issue. The member that got kicked wasn't active doing something. I can't seem to understand why so much effort is being brought towards such a small matter like this. This at most should a private conversation between him and Lucifer. If he has been abusing in a different matter that should have been brought into light. This seems like targeting. I have had one interaction with BEASTIAN so this is a complete outside opinion.  If there is a personal disagreement that should also be sorted out.

Personally I was kicked for only afk mining for 91 minutes by Beastian on one of the first days of the server re-opening. I assumed it was due to the server being full and capacity issues but I was still baffled by it due to the fact this has never been a thing. But now that I look back I noticed that people who were mining BEFORE I was kicked, were somehow still there. But I can't really say it's targeted in my scenario, as I don't interact with Beastian much. But who knows maybe that mf don't like me 

overall I feel like it can go either way here, as (once again) I'm not too familiar with Beastian and who he likes/dislikes, but it is weird that this is happening in the first place, and I am also interested in receiving an answer to:

Management will inform all staff members to strictly be kicking players that sit in spawn with the highest AFK time. Players that are mining are to not be kicked as the job of a miner is to AFK in that designated area(the mine). The staff member in question will be handled accordingly.
